Spending time at Onward Agency was a great introduction to the world of tech, design, and AI. Over the course of a few days, I’ve explored everything from basic video editing for social, to AI agent chatbot development, stretching my creative and technical thinking. Here’s a recap of the projects I’ve worked on:
I created AI-generated ‘talking head’ videos using tools like Synthesia and Tolstoy. I learnt how crucial scripting is when crafting videos, and I gained hands-on experience with video-based AI tools. Take a look here: https://anovaevidence.com/neonc-technologies/
I also created an eCommerce returns portal for Bathroom Point, from scrach. Reviewing their existing policies then built a custom returns form using WordPress/WooCommerce and GravityForms. This project helped sharpen my understanding of the importance of user experience and user interfaces.
Using Canva I designed and created an info graphic carousel post, for Meta (Instagram and Facebook), LinkedIn and Google My Business. I had to learn what AI agents were and then structured an informative info graphic post about them. This was a great exercise in making complex topics feel accessible.
I also built a basic AI chatbot for students and parents on a demo school website. Using the Open AI Agents API, I ‘trained’ the chatbot on key responsibilities, wrote a job description to capture its tone and designed simple interactions to show how the chatbot would respond helpfully to typical questions asked by students and parents.
Even tasks I didn’t fully complete, like designing a company logo, and adding my chatbot to a live website, still taught me about creative process, problem solving, and how to break down complex goals into manageable steps.
My time at Onward was about learning how to approach problems with clarity and creativity, as well as learning how to use new tools. I learnt that great digital experiences start with independence and hard work. I have one last task which is to accompany the team to a live ‘pitch’ at a Private Medical Practice in Harley Street London where the team and I will propose performance marketing strategies and hopefully, a new online presence.
I’m leaving this experience with new skills, and a real appreciation for technology.
